Apartment Therapy

Hi Everyone! If you read my last post you will know that I have finally moved into my own place!  And what a dream it has been. So I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things about city living, and my favorite home decor items and spaces in my new little home.

We are situated quite close to the heart of the city, which means we have access to so many great restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, parks, bars, and entertainment venues. My roommate and I are both acreage kids so city living is such a luxury to us, ordering in was a concept that never used to exist out in the country - so you can imagine how excited we were to order our first pizza.

I am a home body but also love having the option of being out and about, which makes me truly excited for spring to arrive so that I can explore the city this summer in a way I have never been able to before. I now have the ability to walk or run to certain destinations, grab a coffee at the market across the street, and get more involved in the many summer festivals we have.

Now to the good stuff. Ever since I can imagine I've loved to decorate, and create spaces for myself that are completely my own. As soon as we signed the lease I was dreaming up different decor ideas. It is slow going as I am still saving up for a bed and some essential items but here are some of my favorite things right now.

I am somewhat of a minimalist. In the past few years I have fallen in love with clean lines, white and grey spaces full of natural light and little clutter. To me a space like this is so incredibly peaceful and has a lot of potential. An empty canvas of sorts which allows me to add decor items here and there as I choose and not be hindered by a specific layout or colour scheme. Albeit I do love some clutter when it comes to creating a homey cabin like feel.

My favourite places to shop for the home are Chapters/Indigo, ikea, and urban outfitters. Litterally any place that sells candles, books, and pastels, charcoals or gold decor is my happy place. I've been all about the gold accents lately, as has everyone else it seems but what's not to love!

I love the look of a simple plate to hold small jewellery items. It's functional and serves as an accent

An adorable book that's also a good read makes for a perfect side table accent. Garance Dore's recent book is a must for any fashion blogger or dreamer.

As as for the rest of the apartment, I love it just as much. My roomate and I seem to compliment each other style wise, and I can already tell this is going to be a home that we both enjoy for some time! Cheers to "adulting", I don't think I'm so bad at it!

This dresser used to be the same colour as the knobs. Before the moved I painted it white to make it more crisp and updated

Anyways that's all there is for now, eventually I'll give you a tour of the finished product, maybe, if I remember.

Off to the mountains this weekend so I'm sure I'll have plenty to share for a new post in the next week or so.

Happy Friday!
